Order a Custom Figurative Painting
Every artist offers something unique as does every art lover. My hope is we can meet like two children holding hands happy to have found someone to have an adventure with.
I would like to invite you into the world of my art and hope that what brought you to my website was more than a little curiosity. Perhaps it was a recognition of the uniqueness of my style, or an intuitive knowing that my art was something you could live with. Perhaps, as one of my collectors said, you just want something beautiful for your home, and you saw something beautiful in what I put on canvass and paper.
My artwork is called contemporary abstract expressionism.
The artwork on this site, once sold, will be replaced by a more recent piece, but you can still buy it as a print from the print website below.
I am often asked if my artwork is a good investment: will it increase in value? I don't know. All I can say is If you choose to buy one of my pieces you will be buying something valuable because it will give you years of enjoyment. What is more valuable than that?
I can also say, there are not many artists who are painting figurative realistic abstract art. There are many abstract artists who paint colorful pictures that are decorative and great for home designers. But there are not many creative figurative artists who capture subtle emotions, textures, expressions and feelings.
The ink paintings are done on paper and are the easiest to ship. They will come rolled in a tube. The acrylic paintings will need to be re-strectched when you receive them because they will also come rolled in a tube. They will not suffer damage, but will need to be put on a frame. They can be hung without a decorative frame, or framed to suit your needs.

"I just wanted something beautiful for my home. I purchased two, and I couldn't be happier. I love them."
Someone asked me why I paint mostly women, and they are surprised to find out it is not because I am a man. I simply fell in love with the millions of ways the figure can be rendered. Most of the figures I paint are in repose and can be interpreted in many ways by the viewer.
Before coming to China and other parts of Asia in 2012, I had an art gallery in Taos, New Mexico, with my work. I was recently awarded an Honorary fellowship with the Heilongjiang Contemporary Art Institute in Harbin, China.
Side note: What is Contemporary Abstract Expressionism?
Abstract expressionism refers to the non-representational use of form and color as a means of expression that emerged in America in the 1940s, largely thanks to the innovative work of Arshile Gorky. Interestingly, abstract expressionism is considered to be the first movement originating in America to have worldwide influence. Two very different sub-categories of the movement developed:action painting (exemplified notably by Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock) and cold field painting, made most famous by Mark Rothko. Abstract expressionists strove to express our emotion directly on canvas, via color and especially texture (the surface quality of the brushstroke), by embracing accidents, celebrating painting itself as a communicative action.
